What does the panel discussion involve?
The panel will be made up of a union member, a representative from an employer and a facilitator.
Students can ask questions and share their own experiences of their first jobs, learn about employer expectations and their rights, and where to go if they need extra help.
What year levels can participate?
The performance is for students from Year 9 – 10.
Can any Victorian secondary school participate?
Unfortunately, for the May season we can only accommodate Melbourne metropolitan suburbs, extending into Geelong.
Currently we are not able to accommodate other states.
Can a school have more than one incursion?
Yes, we are able to accommodate two sessions per day, so a school could have a morning session and an afternoon session on the same day.
What is the cost for the incursion?
Each incursion, including the one hour theatre performance and one hour panel discussions and workshop, including actors, props and panel guests visiting your school is $1,500 + GST.
If having two sessions at your school in one day the cost will be $3,000 + GST.
How long does the overall incursion run?
The theatre performance will run first, running time approximately 60 minutes. There will then be a short 15 minute break, with the workshop running for a further 60 minutes.
What sort of venue do we need to provide?
We request access to
- a large space that would accommodate students and provide a clear space for actors to perform
- an area which is not located in a walk through space or will provide distractions/high level of noise from other students.
We request that the performance does not take place in a gym environment.
Preferable (but not essential)
- Access to sound equipment to connect a laptop to
- Chairs for students to sit on
Please note: a classroom teacher for each participating class must remain present throughout the entire length of the incursion.
Is there a set-up and pack-up time required?
Yes, we will require access to the venue approximately one hour prior to the start time of our performance, to ensure we are set-up and prepared.
At the conclusion of the incursion, we will require approximately 30 minutes to pack-up.
When a booking is confirmed, a 14 day invoice will be sent and schools will have a five school day cooling off period after which a cancellation fee will apply.
Performances cancelled after the cooling off period will incur a 25% charge of the total incursion cost. If cancelled within one week of the incursion date you will incur a 50% charge of the total incursion cost.
Any bookings cancelled within 48 hours of the incursion will incur a 100% charge of the total incursion cost.
If your school would like to participate but for various reasons including financial difficulty, you are unable to get involved, please call us on 8330 1930 to discuss a special needs application.
